However, Elon Musk is hoping to send 1 million humans to Mars by 2050, regardless of the distance between Earth and the red planet. Musk also stated that he would have to transport a million tons of materials there from Earth to Mars. This ensures that the colony is self-sufficient for everything in the future.
Will the SpaceX’s Starship 2.0 cost more?
Sending humans and other essential materials to Mars would cost a lot of money and be very expensive to SpaceX. Musk has to figure out affordable, yet effective, ways for humans to travel between planets. So, Elon Musk first introduced the Starship 1.0 which cost too much but had its capabilities and advantages. Reports also say that the Starship 2.0 would be 775 feet tall and 60 feet wide.

Looking at its specified dimensions, one could conclude that SpaceX’s Starship 2.0 is the widest rocket that is ever built. Compared with the Starship 1.0, the cross-section of SpaceX’s Starship 2.0 is expected to be four times larger, and its volume is nine times larger than the Starship 1.0. However, the engines of SpaceX’s Starship 2.0 can be further upgraded for the next launch of its Ultra Heavy Starship 2.0. SpaceX’s Starship 2.0 is expected to be having a surface area eight times larger than the Starship 1.0.
Will there be another bigger launch from SpaceX after Starship 2.0?
After all the successful planning and attempts of launching Starships to Mars were successful, there are high chances of SpaceX launching a bigger rocket shortly. It is also expected that the next rocket if launched, would carry around 1000 tons of materials per launch. So, this also paves a way for SpaceX to launch rockets that could handle a payload of about 1.764 million lbs to the moon and Mars.
There are a lot of economic aspects that are to be considered in the aspect of SpaceX’s Starship 2.0. A large rocket cannot be built out of the blue just because a person is having a lot of money. Elon Musk, on the other hand, stated that the reusability of propellants could bring the price down to just two million dollars per launch of the Starship 1.0.
However, one has to note the key point that one launch of SpaceX’s Starship 2.0 is equivalent to eight launches of the Starship 1.0. It is also stated that an estimated amount of 8.4 million dollars would be needed for each launch of the Starship 2.0 because of its fuel costs and support costs.
