Elon Musk: SpaceX Starship will be ready for 1st orbital flight in July

Most of us are aware of SpaceX’s new space travel vehicle, the SpaceX Starship, which is expected to carry millions of humans from Earth to Mars. However, there is a recent update regarding the huge launch vehicle from SpaceX. The recent reports say that SpaceX is all set to launch its massive and popular Starship vehicle this summer.

What does Starship consist of?

Starship is a huge and massive launch vehicle that is said to be consisting of a very big first-stage booster. The first-stage booster is named to be Super Heavy. Why is SpaceX developing the Starship?

As said earlier, SpaceX is developing a new space travel vehicle that aids in taking people and cargo from Earth to the Moon. Along with this, the Starship is also designed in such a way that it can carry humans and cargo to other planets in the solar system as well.

SpaceX has also conducted a lot of tests with respect to its Starship launch just to make sure that nothing goes wrong during the launch. Some of the tests include the high-altitude test flights that are done with the Starship upper stage prototypes from the Starbase. Starbase is SpaceX’s launch site present in the south of Texas in the village of Boca Chica.

What is Elon Musk’s opinion about the Starship launch

Roughly 2-3 weeks of Booster 7 Raptor installation Progress (SpaceX)

Elon Musk expressed his opinion on the starship launch through a series of his tweets. Just a few days back, Elon Musk made a tweet telling that Starship will be ready to fly by the end of next month. He also expressed his happiness and excitement over the launch saying, “I was in the high bay & mega bay late last night reviewing progress.”

Elon Musk also made another tweet telling that there will be a second Starship launch which will be ready to launch in the month of August. The billionaire entrepreneur also added that there will be more Starship launched in the next few months with at least one launch per month.

What more work is left to be done with respect to the Starship launch?

A lot of work with respect to the launch is completed. However, most of the preparation work including the building and testing of Raptors has to be done. Raptor is the next-generation engine that is used to provide power to the Starship during its launch.

Each of the Super Heavy Boosters discussed earlier will have a total of 33 Raptors. On the other hand, each Starship spacecraft is expected to have a total of six Super Heavy boosters in it, as said by Elon Musk.

Did SpaceX secure a launch license from the FAA?

Though the Starship launch has all its hardware ready for the launch, this won’t guarantee the July launch of the Starship flight. On the other hand, SpaceX still needs to take permission from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to make its starship launch in the month of July.

Conclusion

If everything goes according to the plan, the Starship’s test campaign could go very far in the coming years. NASA also picked up Starship and considered it as the first crewed lunar lander for its well-known program named the Artemis program. The Artemis program works for the main goal of putting boots on the moon by the year 2025 or 2026.

On the other hand, Elon Musk voiced out that the starship is all set to carry humans from Earth to Mars in the same time frame. Elon Musk also sent a lot of aggressive targets for his companies to make his goal successful.
