What is the New Light Speed Engine?
NASA in collaboration with SpaceX decided to launch a new transportation vehicle that travels as fast as the speed of light. The transportation vehicle was named ‘Speed Light Engine’. However, in addition to being the fastest vehicle, the newly launched engine doesn’t use even a drop of fuel. This is one of the major advantages of the Speed Light Engine as it would reduce the launch cost by millions as fuel is one of the most expensive things for a space launch.
The Speed Light Engine works on converting centrifugal force to energy and ultimately travels with the help of the obtained energy. The new engine is also known as a helical engine as it is very fast respect traveling about 300 million meters per second.
The newly launched Speed Light Engine by NASA in collaboration with SpaceX attracted most space travelers. The main reason behind this is the traveling speed of the engine that makes the space travel a matter of a few minutes to hours. The Moon is present at a distance of about 240000 miles. So, according to a calculation made by Elon Musk, the Speed Light Engine would take just 1.3 seconds to reach the Moon.
On the other hand, the travel from Earth to Mars would take just a time span of about 12.5 minutes, taking into consideration the long distance between the two planets. One can also travel to Neptune, the farthest planet which is present at a distance of 2.7 billion miles, in just a matter of a few hours.
