Workshop on Vedic Geo-Sciences - A Report

As a part of its research programme, I-S.E.R.V.E has conducted a workshop presided over by Sri Kuppa Venkata Krishna Murty, Chairman & Managing Trustee I-S.E.R.V.E, on 04-02-2007 on the subject "Vedic Geo-Sciences" and felicitated Prof: VLS Bhimasankaram, the millennium Plaque of Honour Awardee by Indian Science Congress in the office premises at Alakapuri. The exponent on Oriental as well as Occidental sciences, Sri Satguru Kandukuri Sivananda Murty was the chief guest for this function while the special invitee Sri B.L. Dikshatulu (former NRSA Director) and the guests of honour, Prof: D. Swaminathan, Vice-Chairman, A.P. Planning Commission and formerly Vice-Chancellor, JNTU, Sri K.V. Subba Rao, (formerly Professor, IIT Bombay) among others, adorned the dais.

In his presidential address Sri Kuppa Venkata Krishna Murty stated that though the modern Geo-Science which was bifurcated into several branches such as Geology, Geo-Physics, Astro-geology etc., has been giving good results, still there are certain areas which remain unsolved and further stated that though most of the ancient Vedic literature has been permanently lost there are still some wonderful scientific ideas in the available literature on the subject. In the course of his speech, Sri Krishna Murty informed that the I-S.E.R.V.E has made some rapid progress since one year and was conducting this Workshop with the aim to bring the concerned scientists and Siddantists to a common platform for effective and speedy progress in this field of Geo-Sciences. Sri Madhura Krishna Murty Sastry has participated in this workshop on behalf of ancient Vedic Geo-Sciences and Prof: VLS Bhimasankaram has been specially invited on behalf of modern Geo-Sciences.

While inaugurating the Workshop, Sri Sadguru Sivananda Murty commended the efforts so far made on Vedas by I-S.E.R.V.E and felicitated Sri VLS Bhimasankaram on behalf of I-S.E.R.V.E during this workshop and also released the Sanskrit poetic work "Ganesa Sarvangeena Stuti" (Hymn to Lord Ganesa) written by Brahmasri Kuppa Venkata Krishna Murty. In his course of speech, he expressed the urgent need of imparting our treasure of knowledge to the society instead of encouraging and inviting the foreign investments in India.

During the Workshop, the speech rendered by the renowned Vedic scholar and the resident of Rajamundry, Sri Madhura Krishna Murty Sastry has attracted both the oriental and occidental scientists equally. He cited many references with examples contained in the texts authored by Varahamihiracharya and others in the fields of Geo-sciences, Ground water Exploration, Exploration of minerals etc.

Prof: D. Swaminadhan in his speech very much appreciated the efforts of I-S.E.R.V.E. Later the world-renowned NRSA scientist Sri B.L.Dikshitulu and former IIT Professor Sri K.V. Subba Rao commended the projects taken up by I-S.E.R.V.E and felicitated Prof: Bhimnasankaram. Dr. J.Bapu Reddy IAS (Retd.) analyzed poetic beauties of the newly released book and admired the poetic talents of Sri Kuppa Venkata Krishna Murty. Formerly Vice-Chancellor, Dravidian University, Prof: Ravva Srihari lauded the efforts so far made by I-S.E.R.V.E and referred several instances contained in the Geo-sciences

He gave several quotations from the newly released Sanskrit book to appreciate the poetic talents of Sri K.V.Krishna Murthy.
