One day Workshop and Farmers Training Programme on
“Natural Farming Methods and present adaptability at Amangal,
Mahabubnagar District, Telangana on 04-06-2016
I-SERVE has organized the above workshop in association with Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Telangana and Saral Jeevan India, Hyderabad.
The following participated in the work shop:
1. Prof. K. Srinivasa Reddy, Agriculture University (R), Tirupati.
2. Sri K.V.R.S. Murthy, Hon. Director, I-SERVE, Hyderabad.
3. Sri Rajesh Kumar, Director Saral Jeevan Foundation.
4. Smt. Aruna Kumari, Agricultural Officer, Dept. of Agriculture, Amangal Centre, Mahabubnagar Dist, Telangana.
Shri. K.V.R.S. Murthy chaired the session.
Shri KVRS Murthy in his presidential key note address referred to the natural farming in Rig-Veda, Adharv veda, Ramayana and Mahabharata and the references in the Brihat samhitha, Koutilya Arthsastra the products used, crops and the rotations and the happiness of the people of those days, which our people adopted upto recent past. The present modern sciences have developed in a very big way to the highest ranks at the cost of contamination of Pancabhutas, the Nature’s gift. The soil degradation, Air pollutions, water contamination and scarcity and effect of environment on seasonal weathers, rains, high temperatures etc., are the results which in turn are causing concern. He mentioned that these problems need to be reversed to protect the land and environment to the future generations. Agriculture is one of the areas to protect the environment, soil health and human health and hence the need of switching over to Natural organic farming. Shri Murthy also presented the statistical information of organic farming across the globe and India is in No 2 with 14% position after Uganda 16% in the land used for organic farming .He also narrated various facilities available from Government of Telangana policies withMana Telangana, Mana Vyavasayam and on organic farming in terms of farmers groups incentives, seed health, and misc. product values and certifying agencies for which farmers could get the advantage. He also mentioned the various methods of organic farming that are used in the advanced countries which we also must practice and make India a great nation in Natural farming protecting the environment and Health. Shri Murthy mentioned that I-SERVE is making the efforts to bring this knowledge to the farmers by workshops, seminars, trainings ancient literature survey and books in easy way so that the knowledge is reached to the users. He also mentioned the importance of Livestock in natural farming and famers must give importance to cattle health and grow them in the fields and cited examples from his own agriculture experience in his early ages.
Prof. K. Srinivasulu Reddy has given an elaborative talk on the methods of usage of Vrikshayurveda.
For certain crops, he also mentioned that some of the points adopted in the Surapala’s Vrikshayurveda may not be relevant to the present day and economy. For that the modern scientists have advised the necessary substitutes which can be used for the success of organic farming techniques. He also presented various methods and applications with reference to the Vrikshayurveda. He also presented the various plants that are related to various Twenty Seven stars that are to be planted for better results. And also mentioned various Rasi structures with relates to plants growing phenomena. For any assistance on the natural farming, I- SERVE and himself will provide the necessary help. He requested the ryots to be active in providing the practical experiences so that the information can be shared with other farmers and also shared his views in promotion of Organic Farming. Reacting to the farmers interactions he explained how to make the organic fertilizers and pesticides with reference to the Dhanya Gavayamu, Kunapa Jalam with herbs and Cow dung based pesticide. He also said the better seeds can be prepared from farmers himself and precautions to be taken in preparing the seeds. He was concerned about absence of Earth warms (Valapamulu) in many agricultural fields and farmers must try to prepare earth warms sources and also make Vermi Compost which can be used as Organic Fertilizer. The earth warms are available with Dept. of Agriculture and private agencies for use.
Sri Rajesh Kumar, Narrated different ways of improving of soil fertility for the dry land agriculture with special reference of using earth warms generations. He also explained the water conservation methods in the field by way of Rain water harvesting methods. He further stated that all the farmers must farm as groups to help each other specially small farmers for better benefits.
Smt. Aruna Kumari, Agriculture officer explained the benefits to the farmers through Government and requested the farmers to make use of the directions given by the above scientists for better yields, quality products and better environment.
About 75 farmers attended the meeting and interacted in the work shop.
